Welcome to the Data Intelligence Journal! We would like to introduce the Editor-in-Chief Committee.
James Hendler is a Professor and Director of the Rensselaer Institute for Data Exploration and Applications at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is one of the early Semantic Web developers. Hendler held a longstanding position as professor at the University of Maryland where he was the Director of the Joint Institute for Knowledge Discovery and held joint appointments in the Department of Computer Science, the Institute for Advanced Computer Studies and the Institute for Systems Research. He was the Director for Semantic Web and Agent Technology at the Maryland Information and Network Dynamics Laboratory. Hendler served as an “Internet Web Expert” for the U.S. government, providing guidance to the Data.gov project and in 2016 he was appointed to the National Academies Board on Research Data and Information. He is a Fellow of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence, the British Computer Society, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Association for Computing Machinery.
Prof. Huizhou Liu is the director of the National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), China. He has won several awards, including one second prize of the State Technological Invention Award, one first prize and one second prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation and one second prize of Beijing Science and Technology Award. He has been awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and enrolled in Young Top-notch “Ten-thousand Talent Plan” by the Central Organization Ministry of China. He was the director of the Institute of Process Engineering, CAS, and the director of the Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology, CAS. Prof. Huizhou Liu’s research area is focused on separation science and engineering. He has published more than 280 papers in the prestigious journals in his field such as Applied Environmental Microbiology and Langmuir, in which his papers were cited more than 5,200 times. He has translated two books and co-authored six books. He has gained over 130 Chinese invention patents and more than 10 of them have realized industrialization.
Ying Ding is a Professor at School of Informatics and Computing, Indiana University and currently the associate director for data science online program. She is the Changjiang Guest Professor at Wuhan University and Elsevier Guest Professor at Tongji University, China. She has been involved in various NIH, NSF and European-Union funded projects. She has published 200+ papers in journals, conferences, and workshops, and served as the program committee member for 180+ international conferences. She is the co-editor in chief for Journal of Data and Information Science, and serves as the editorial board member forScientific Data, and several other top journals in Information Science and Semantic Web. She is the co-founder of Data2Discovery Company advancing cutting edge technologies in data science. Her current research interests include data-driven science of science, data-driven discovery, Semantic Web, scientific collaboration, and the application of Web Technology.
Dr. Guilin Qi is a professor working at Southeast University (SEU) in China. He is the leader of the Knowledge Science and Engineering Group at SEU and is the director of Cognitive Intelligence Lab at SEU. He received his PhD in Computer Science from Queen's University of Belfast in 2006, and has worked in Institute AIFB at University of Karlsruhe for three years. His research interests include artificial intelligence, knowledge representation and reasoning, and semantic Web. He has published over 100 papers in these areas, many of which were published in proceedings of major conferences or journals. He is in the editorial board of the Journal of Web Semantics and the Semantic Web journal. He is the executive editor-in-chief of Data Intelligence. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Advances in Artificial Intelligence and has co-edited a special issue of Annals of Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence. He is a co-Chair of the Poster and Demo track of ISWC’2011 and JIST’2013, and he is a co-Chair of the Poster and Demo track of EKAW’14. He is a PC co-Chair of Chinese Semantic Web Symposium (CSWS) in 2009 and 2012, and is a Co-Chair of CSWS2013. He has organized a couple of international workshops, including C&O'08, ARCOE 09-10, WoDOOM2012-2014, and WL4AI2015. He has served as PC members of several international conferences and workshops, such as KR'12, ECAI'12-14, IJCAI'11-15, AAAI11-15, ESWC11-15, and ISWC09-15.
Yan Zhao is the Associate Director and Chief Resources Officer (CRO) of the National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as the Director of the Key Laboratory of Dynamic Semantic Publishing and Knowledge Service of Academic Journal. She is a standing committee member of International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Acquisition and Collection Development Section and Resources Development and Sharing Committee of Library Society of China, also the associate of IFLA International Leadership Programme 2016-2018. She has been taking overall responsibility for literature resources development for Chinese Academy of Sciences Digital Resources Acquisition Consortium since 2006, which gave her an intimate knowledge of STM publishing market and publishing trend. Her research interests include Open Access, Knowledge Resource Management, Knowledge Organization and Service.
Fenghong Liu is an associate professor of the National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Sciences (NSLC). She received her Ph. D degree from Institute of Botany, CAS (IBCAS). Before joined in NSLC as “outstanding talent” in 2015, she had been the head of the library of IBCAS for four years. She is currently the managing editor of Data Intelligence (DI).
